One of the biggest things to happen to politics in sometime just happened recently. President Obama passed his health care bill and it has created a firestorm of controversy. There are a lot of things about the health care plan that are coming into perspective. Here are a few of the ways that the plan hopes to benefit you, the individual taxpayer.
The Public Option
This is a big point of contention and what the entire bill was spirited on. This public option gives citizens without health insurance an option if they are interested . Now, that doesn’t mean they have to take it but much like the well criticized Medicare Part D plan it is made in the idea that it is better to have some insurance than no insurance at all.
No Maximums
This is a big deal for those that come down with life altering diseases. There used to be that an insurance company only had to pay so much for you in the course of your life and once you reached a certain limit they could drop you but the truth is that they will no longer be able to do that. There will be no lifetime maximum. No matter what.
You Are Who You Are
Pre-existing condition? No worries there. You are who you are and they will not punish you for that anymore. You used to not be able to get insurance because you were a diabetic but no they will have to take you regardless of the illness. It’s in the spirit of giving us your weak, your tired, your poor.
Preventative Services Covered
There will be preventative services covered for everyone. No matter what insurance you have there will be no cost to you to go in and prevent disease. It’s a big plus of this health care bill.
