President Obama came into office in a mess. There is no doubt that there was a lot to do and a lot that the people expected of him. If he had any hopes of getting re elected then he knew that what he would need to do is to make something happen. If he didn’t he’d end up a one and done President. While there are still a little less than 2 years remaining on his presidency you have to know that his legacy is already set in stone with this universal health care bill.
When a president decides to do something this bold and forward they are resting their entire legacy on this. Rest assured that if this health care plan works and people get what they have longed for then he will look like a hero and go down as one of the great innovators of those who had his office. If this plan fails or puts the country further in the hole he will look like a president that was in over his head and pushed his own agenda without thinking about the country.
But was it his own agenda? The truth is it’s rather hard to say whether or not it was his agenda. The president is a good man but did he do this the way he wanted. The bill he proposed initially was met with much resistance from the other side. When his bill finally did go through it looked a lot different than what you say initially.
There are certainly points to the health care bill to like but of course the bill will take time to pass through and iron out all the kinks. But there is no doubt that whatever happens with the bill it will define an already important legacy.
