No Conviction And Courage

There is a question of true leadership in politics. Does it exist anymore? Long gone are the days of strong men and women having the courage of their conviction to stand up for what they believed in, even if what they believed in wasn’t all that popular. There are no longer those that stand alone but rather those that stand behind the party lines and claim that they are doing what they think is best but their previous actions and speeches and grandstanding seems to believe otherwise. It’s amazing how quickly you go from a world of brave men and women to a world of complacent leaders.

At the root of all indecisiveness and indecision is money. If it were cheaper to win an election there wouldn’t need to be the hiding behind the party line and going the party way. Men and women would be able to lead by their hearts and their heads, and not the whims, notions, and ideas of others.

As a politician gets into office they are bombarded with their own parties agenda. They are interested in making a deal first and foremost. Here’s why? The people who gave them money to fund their quest to obtain office are the same people who are looking to be taken care of now. This is how the political process works. It’s ugly but funding the reelection makes it so that you have to spend most of your time in office doing favors for people. Because of this there are no more politicians that are strictly for the people. Everyone has an angle. That is why it is so hard to find men and women of conviction and courage. This system is not about good people but rather good politics and that leaves everyone out in the cold.
